From the Living Room Coffee House:
Last week the last of our oaks dropped their leaves. We can now see our neighbors house and deep into the woods. Soon we will be bringing in the wood and firing up the wood stove. Yes sir old man winter is on his way. On the 21st will have a warm and welcoming room set up for music and friends complete with hot mulled cider, coffee, teas, soup and some yummy baked stuff. We hope to see ya.
November 21st: Derek Russell Fimbel
A young lad who possesses a fine talent to write and perform his own material. The Union Coffee shop on south street in Milford is where I first heard Derek perform his songs of love and heart ache and stories of relationships. His songs a written with honesty.
Derek runs a very nice open Mic night at the coffee shop. As a matter of fact, the coffee shop is a business he, his brother, and their family started last fall. When I first chatted with Derek he was working hard with the family to make this dream a reality. He made it clear to me that one aspect of his dream was to fulfill his passion for sharing live music. On Friday and Saturday nights you can get a great cup of coffee and listen to some good local performers and the Union Coffee. We are happy to have Derek join us out here in the woods of Mason and share his talents with us all.
How it works: Doors open at 6:30 pm and all are welcome to sit, relax, meet and mingle. Performers (music, poetry, spoken word) are encouraged to sign up for one of the 15-minute slots. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Performances start at 7:00.
About us: It is our goal to create a wholesome relaxing atmosphere for people to gather, listen and perform music, poetry and the spoken word. Our stage is set for you to perform in front of a supportive audience. A $5 donation is suggested (students may bring 2 cans of food as their donation, to help support the local St Vincent De Paul pantry).
