The Nashua Regional Planning Commission is raising awareness during April, known as “Safe Digging Month”, that you can contact DigSafe’s NH call center by dialing 811. You should call at least 72 hours prior to digging and start the process of getting your underground utility lines marked for free. Examples of digging projects include installing a rural mailbox, putting in a fence, planting trees or shrubbery, building a patio or deck, and excavating a new garden area. For more information about the DigSafe process, go to http://www.digsafe.com/how_it_works.php/.
According to recent email from the Nashua Regional Planning Commission, the Commission “has been granted funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) Program to promote pipeline safety planning and general Dig Safe awareness in our region.”
