March donations to Puerto Rico
In January, Jahdiel Torres-Caba, a community organizer for Civix, working for families in NH, and the environment, spoke at our Sunday worship gathering about the continuing disaster in Puerto Rico. He was born and raised there, and came 5 years ago to Antioch in Keene to do his graduate work. He supplied us with a list of organizations that could use assistance. ISER is one of those that is building water treatment sites on a small scale so communities have clean water. Th Living Room Coffee House will be giving our March donations to ISER to help them with there efforts to sustain and improve the quality of life for people of Puerto Rico. From our village to yours.
About us: It is our goal to create a wholesome relaxing atmosphere for people to gather, listen and perform music, poetry and the spoken word. Our stage is set for you to perform in front of a supportive audience. A $5 donation is suggested (students may bring 2 cans of food as their donation, to help support the local St. Vincent De Paul food pantry).
Snacks: Coffee, tea, water, soda, and juices are available, as well as popcorn and a variety of yummy baked goods from our kitchen. As always, there is no charge for snacks.
How it works: Doors open at 6:30 pm and all are welcome to sit, relax, meet and mingle. Performers (music, poetry, spoken word) are encouraged to sign up for one of the 15-minute slots. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Performances start at 7:00.
Feature performer: Each month we schedule a feature performer that is given a 30- 40 minute time slot at about 8:00 pm. Check out our Calendar to see who will be featured at our coffeehouse in the coming months.
Equipment: We have a PA and four microphones that are available. We also have available the very loved and in tune upright grand piano named, “Rose”. If you are a piano player you will love the warmth that Rose has to offer.
Dates: Third Saturday of the month, except for our summer break (July and August) and the month of December. December is now, the 2nd Saturday of the Month.
