Quality control reviews of property assessments and/or revaluation data

Approximately 30 property owners have received a yellow postcard from the NH Dept of Revenue with the following message:

Dear Taxpayer,

As part of our duties under NH law, RSA 21-J:11-a, New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration (DRA), randomly selected your property as part of a quality control review of current assessment and/or revaluation data in Mason.

A DRA Monitor will visit your property between 4/9/2018 and 5/18/2018 to verify the physical data listed on the property record card collected by the assessor. If there is no objection, the DRA will measure the exterior of your structure(s) if no one is home. Interior data will be verified only if you are home during the visit. If you object to the exterior review, please call (603)230-5977 by 4/4/2018 as failure to reply to this notice constitutes visit permission. All DRA Monitors drive State of NH/DRA marked vehicles and have picture ID’s at all times. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.

The DRA does regularly review the work our assessing team does, and is in addition to visits from the assessors. Some of you may have also had a gentleman from Granite Hill Municipal Services visiting your properties recently, as they capture all the updates in preparation for the new tax year.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Board of Selectmen’s office at 878-2070, or the Mason Police Dept at 878-1111.
